Helen and Aubrey Andelin

April 2001

A Special Announcement

My name is Brian Andelin, the son of Helen and Aubrey Andelin. My mother wrote Fascinating Womanhood and my father Man of Steel and Velvet. These are the two books on which this web site has been based.  Since both books were published when I was still in high school, I grew up as a personal witness to the work they have been engaged in.
(The photo at the left was taken by Life magazine about 1973.)

My father was a business man with very high goals and expectations.  My mother stayed home, giving her attention to raising a family of eight children. Between the two of them they gave their children a near perfect childhood.  But, as I closely observed, their own lives were filled with numerous sacrifices, especially the work of improving marriages, a work they so earnestly believed in.

My mother especially has given much to improve marriages.  She has written three books, two workbooks, several lesson guides, numerous FW newsletters, been interviewed by hundreds of newspapers, TV and radio programs, taught numerous classes and seminars, answered thousands of letters and produced this web site for the past three years.  Her crowning challenge, however, was when her husband and lifetime partner died in 1999.  This has been a painful loss from which she is still making an effort to adjust to.  Taking everything into consideration, it has become necessary for her to take time out.

I have advised her to take a six-month leave of absence.  After that, she may continue in a limited capacity, but I plan to arrange my life so I will be free to advance the principles she teaches. I have always fervently believed in my mother’s concepts of womanhood and have many ideas of how to make these teaching more widely known.

What will happen to this web site without Helen Andelin’s message and advice?  We are not sure but for the month of April it will continue to display this message.  After that it may turn into a message board.  Please note the current web address is: www.fascinatingwomanhood.net

Fascinating Womanhood Classes

Churches, educational institutions and outreach programs may continue to teach classes in Fascinating Womanhood.  However, we cannot supply teaching materials during this time.  Teachers are asked to rely on the book as a guide and give the assignments at the end of the chapters.

Thank you for your understanding but do not give up hope.  Millions of women in many languages have read Fascinating Womanhood, but the surface has barely been scratched. I firmly anticipate the emerging of a new and greatly invigorated program within the next six to twelve months.  At that time, this web site will serve as the vehicle of communicating the transition.

Warm and best wishes,

Brian Andelin
